The Washington Post grossly misquotes Trump's conversation with the Georgia Secretary of State

Washington Post admits it misquoted Trump's call to Georgia elections investigator when newly released recording revealed he DIDN'T urge her to 'find the fraud.' Trump DIDN'T say she'd be 'a national hero.'  

The Post story is gutted. But will most people ever know they published made-up quotes? Why isn't this correction front-page news? Will the rest of the media give this the same coverage that they gave the original fake quotes?  

These false quotes are just like the misrepresentation of Trump's telephone call with the Ukrainian president. Major news stories are now written based on one anonymous source that again turns out to be a lie. Did the Post's one anonymous source lie to them, or did they lie and make things up?  

Because the Post will never reveal this anonymous source, even though the best of them is that this single source lied to them, we will never know whether the source lied to them or the Washington Post simply made up the false quotes.

Most Democrats believe Biden lie about Trump supposedly praising neo-Nazis, Klansmen, and white supremacists

Biden in his acceptance speech: 

"Just a week ago yesterday was the third anniversary of the events in Charlottesville. Close your eyes, remember what saw on television, and remember seeing those neo-Nazis and Klansmen and white supremacists, coming out of fields with lighted torches, veins bulging, spewing the same anti-Semitic bile heard across Europe in the ‘30s. Remember the violent clash that ensued between those spreading hate and those with the courage to stand against it. Remember what the President said when asked, he said there were, quote, “very fine people on both sides.” It was a wake-up call for us as a country.  And for me, a call to action.  At that moment I knew I had to run, My father taught us that silence was complicity.  And I could never remain silent or complicit."

59% of Democrats remember it the way Biden does, as do 19% of Republicans and 37% of unaffiliated voters.
49% of Democrats Think Trump Voters Are Racist

A constant theme of the Democratic National Convention on Thursday night was that Joe Biden is a decent and honest person. Someone who wants to heal the divisions in the country and bring people together. 

Well, in his acceptance speech at the convention, Biden completely blew up that narrative.

Biden couldn’t help telling whopping lies in accusing President Trump of racism. In recalling the horrors of racists rioting in Charlottesville in 2017, Biden claimed that Trump said that there were “very fine people on both sides,” among both the protesters — which included white supremacists and white nationalists — and the counter-protesters.

We must condemn racists. But what do you make of someone who repeatedly lies that someone else is racist?

Ever since the 2016 campaign, Democrats and the media have asserted that President Trump has failed to distance himself from white nationalists and neo-Nazis. The fact that White House staffers must answer these questions shows how far out of kilter the discussion has gone.

These media depictions are so extreme that they are easily proven false. If Trump “stayed silent” and really “refused to distance himself,” there shouldn’t be any statements. Yet, there are dozens of them.

Instead of taking a few words completely out of context, here is Trump’s statement where he referred to “very fine people.”

TRUMP: Excuse me, they didn’t put themselves down as neo-Nazis, and you had some very bad people in that group. But you also had people that were very fine people on both sides. . . . I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally – but you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists, okay? And the press has treated them absolutely unfairly. Now, in the other group also, you had some fine people, but you also had troublemakers and you see them come with the black outfits and with the helmets and with the baseball bats – you had a lot of bad people in the other group too.  

REPORTER: I just didn’t understand what you were saying. You were saying the press has treated white nationalists unfairly?  

TRUMP: No, no. There were people in that rally, and I looked the night before. If you look, they were people protesting very quietly, the taking down the statue of Robert E. Lee. . . .

So what exactly is unclear? It’s hard to see how any rational person could think that Trump wasn’t condemning neo-Nazis. Was “very bad people” not strong enough? Should he have said, “very, very bad people”?

Or how about another Trump statement in the aftermath of the riots? “Racism is evil, and those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans.”

Full Text of Trump's Tweet that was removed by Twitter

Last Thursday, when Trump tweeted about the riots in Minneapolis, Twitter took down his Tweet on the basis that it was “glorifying violence.” Few people actually got to read it, but Trump’s tweetdidn’t glorify violence. It was more of a warning about the consequences of looting. 

As is typical with the media, they interpreted Trump’s comments in the worst possible way. Nowhere does Trump say that shooting people would be good or desirable. He says that looting dishonors George Floyd’s memory.

ABC News from 2016: "Biden Says He Wishes He Could Take Trump 'Behind the Gym' Over Groping Comments"

This is pretty astounding from ABC News in October 2016:

Vice President Joe Biden took GOP candidate Donald Trump to task over comments he made bragging about his ability to grope women, saying he wished he were in high school so "I could take him behind the gym." 

During a campaign stop in Pennsylvania Friday, Biden sounded outraged as he talked about Trump’s sexually explicit comments and the allegations from women that Trump assaulted them. Trump has vehemently denied the sex assault allegations. 

“Press always ask me, ‘Don’t I wish I were debating him?’” Biden said talking about Trump. “No, I wish we were in high school and I could take him behind the gym.” 

Biden has been a leading advocate for legislation aimed at helping sexual assault victims throughout his career and Friday he credited his father and his family values for serving as inspiration for that work. Biden has been known for passionate and fiery rhetoric and at several points during his speech, which focused primarily on rebuking Trump, the vice president was yelling.

Given how Biden calls Trump racist for "China virus" retweet, remember when Biden used terms Ebola or Zika?

Even as recently as this week, Trump has been attacked by the media and former Vice President and leading Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden as “racist” for retweeting a reference to COVID-19 as the “China virus.” But what about Biden referring to the Ebola virus by that name? Ebola was named after a river in Arica.

"This has all led to a number of immediate crises that demand our attention from ISIL to Ebola to Ukraine–just to name a few that are on our front door–as someone said to me earlier this week, the wolves closest to the door," Biden said.

Or how about him using the term Zika? The Zika virus name came from a forest in Africa.

“Give us an up-or-down vote, straight, on Zika,” Biden said at an event on Capitol Hill with fellow Democrats from the Senate and House of Representatives.

On the Michigan Talk Network about the media misreporting Trump's trade and tariff policies

Dr. John Lott talks to Steve Gruber about how the media is greatly exaggerating the impact of Trump's trade policies with China. The cost of products will not be going up anywhere near as much as the media claims.

Do you wonder about the media's claims that there is no reason for Trump to send troops to the border if the Caravan won't be here for a while?

For all the badgering that the media has done over why it must be politics that Trump has put the troops on the border before the Caravan actually arrived (see above video), the New York Post provides the obvious explanation:

As three separate migrant caravans slowly made their way north through Mexico on Saturday, newly arrived US troops worked to lay a barbed-wire fence along the Texas side of the Rio Grande. 

The soldiers worked with US Customs and Border Patrol officers to lay about 1,000 feet of fencing along the river, the Defense Department said. The makeshift barrier was installed underneath the McAllen-Hidalgo International Bridge, which crosses into Mexico. The overpass is in the small town of Hidalgo, about 250 miles south of San Antonio. . . .

They are setting up fencing at the border.

More examples of extreme media bias: Trump and Palin told not to come to funeral, so the media has these bizarre headlines

President Trump and Sarah Palin were bizarrely told not to come to John McCain's funeral. It is one thing not to have someone in the front row, but to tell them not to show up for the funeral is just petty. Sarah Palin has never said a bad word about McCain. What was her crime? So what were they supposed to do? Trump went to play golf.

McCain's career was marked by pettiness. If you feel wronged by someone as McCain obviously is by Trump, take it out on Trump. And McCain did so in pretty despicable ways such as sending an aide to London to pick up the famous dossier filled with fake information and give it to Comey. But out of spite, McCain broke his promise to his voters to repeal Obamacare. That didn't just hurt Trump it hurt all Americans. Where is the honor in that?

The media just can't even try to be slightly balanced. Here are some of the headlines in the media today.

Just how strong is the economy?

-- The economy is so strong that the number of people on Social Security disability is "plunging, a startling reversal of a decades-old trend that threatened the program’s solvency." 2yrs ago system was going to be insolvent by 2023. Now 2032.

-- Food stamp use that had been steadily increasing under the Obama administration has fallen to an eight-year low.

-- Over 95% of manufacturers bullish on future, ‘record optimism’

-- Millenials are finally leaving their parents' home

How stocks prices around the world soared after Trump's election on November 8, 2016

People know how US stock prices soared immediately after President Trump was elected.  That is easy to explain because of the prospects of lower taxes and regulatory reform.  But more amazing is how stock prices around the world increased at the same time.  So many think that economics is a zero-sum game.  That was is good for the US is bad for the rest of the world.  And, surely, lower taxes in the US will increase investment in the US at the expense of what happens in other countries.  But fewer regulations and lower taxes in the US have apparently meant a more productive world economy.

At Fox News: Trump needs a chairman for his Council of Economic Advisers. When will Democrats let him be confirmed?

I have a new piece at Fox News on the incredibly slow confirmation process for Trump's nominees.  Because of the delays created by the Democrats, even if Trump had nominated people as quickly as past administrations, it wouldn't have made any difference in the number of people confirmed.

It’s the middle of July, and President Trump still doesn’t have a chairman for his Council of Economic Advisers. His nominee, Kevin Hassett, is a world-recognized expert on taxation, but he has been stuck on the sidelines despite tax reform being one of the administration’s big goals this year.  He is the one person who could explain how the different parts of the tax bill fit together. 

White House advisor Gary Cohn has reportedly told associates that time is running out for tax reform.  He worries that if tax reform doesn't get done by the end of the year, it likely won’t happen at all.  Missing key players such as Hassett doesn’t help. 

The delay reflects only Democrat’s unwillingness to confirm any Trump nominee.  Hassett is not a controversial pick.  

The Senate Banking Committee very easily advanced Hassett’s nomination last month, with only Elizabeth Warren opposing.  Other liberal Democrats such as Sherrod Brown (Ohio), Jack Reed (R.I.), Robert Menedez (N.J.), and Brian Schatz (Hawaii) all voted in Hassett’s favor.  

According to organizations such as the AFL-CIO, the League of Conservation Voters, and Americans for Democratic Action, these Senators have perfect or near-perfect liberal voting records. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) was the only committee member who opposed Hassett. 

The economists who know Hassett best also support him. Forty-four prominent economists, liberal Democrats and conservative Republicans alike, signed a letter supporting Hassett’s confirmation.  

It read, in part, as follows: “While the signers of this letter hold a range of views on President Trump’s policies, we all believe that the formulation of economic policy would be advanced by the analysis and advice that Dr. Hassett would bring to the table.”  They also noted Hassett’s “record of serious scholarship.”  The signers included all of President Obama’s Council Chairmen (Jason Furman, Alan Krueger, Christina Romer, Austan Goolsbee), President Clinton’s chairs (Laura Tyson, Martin Baily), Vice President Joe Biden’s chief economist Jared Bernstein, and Obama economic advisor Mark Zandi. 

Going back to 1980, the average time to confirm a Council Chairman was 25 days. For incoming administrations such as Trump’s, which are already short-handed, the average confirmation period is 13 days, with the longest lasting 25 days. 

Hassett’s confirmation stands at 76 days and counting.  For past incoming administrations, the chairman would have officially started his job by around February 26.   

Not a single nomination to this position has ever taken anywhere near as long as Hassett’s. Some of the responsibility lies with the administration, but Democrats have done everything they can to slow down all of President Trump’s nominees.  Demanding cloture filings for every single nominee, no matter how uncontroversial, means two days of debate before cloture can even be voted on, and then an additional 30 hours after that. . . .

Senator Grassley (R-Iowa) points out that Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) repeatedly made false statements that he knew were false about President Trump being under investigation.

Why won't mainstream media mention all the death and economic threats aimed at Trump Electors?

Here are some of the news coverage of the death threats received by electors who are voting for Trump.  I can't find these stories in places such as the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, and USA Today.

According to The Hill newspaper in Pennsylvania:

The messages have escalated to death threats, and so the 20 electors will have state troopers escorting them to cast their votes Monday.  

GOP electors have been under pressure over the past month from anti-Donald Trump groups to not vote for the president-elect. . . .

WILX Channel 10 in Lansing, Michigan

One elector from Bloomfield Hills, Michael Banerian, says he has even received death threats. Banerian says, "I've had death wishes, people just saying "I hope you die." Do society a favor, throw yourself in front of a bus. And just recently I was reading a blog about me - and unfortunately these people not only called for the burning of myself but my family. Which is completely out of line." . . .

For the same elector, the Detroit News has verified the threats.

The Detroit News verified one message containing a death wish and another containing a death threat, in which the person told Banerian he would “put a bullet” in his mouth. Banerian said he deleted the rest of the emails and messages “because as you can imagine they’re clogging up my email.” . . .

From KHBS in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

The chair of Arkansas’ slate of six electors tells KHBS in Fort Smith that he and his colleagues have received tens of thousands of demands that they change their votes, including some death threats. The effort to intimidate electors has a particular focus on Arkansas, one of 21 states where electors are not bound by state law to the popular vote within their state. . . . .

Two black electors in Michigan who are voting for Trump have also received death threats.

An African American father and daughter will cast their electoral votes for Donald Trump on Monday in Lansing, Michigan. 

Despite the abuse they’ve received the father-daughter combo will make history as they cast their votes for Donald J. Trump. 

The two black Trump supporters have received death threats.  Liberals have called them bigots for supporting Trump. . . .

More for Texas:

“At first everyone was kinda enchanted by it,” one Texas elector told local media. “Now all the electors are starting to get beaten down. There are some electors who have been threatened with harm or with death.” 

In Georgia, things got bad enough that the Secretary of State issued a statement warning that Clinton supporters who harass Electors over the phone—including anyone who encouraged the practice —could be subject to dire consequences. In Arizona, Electors reported as many as 8,000 calls, some of which, they say, became “hateful.” . . .

As the deadline approaches some of the appeals to electors have turned threatening. Electors around the country have reported being targeted by death threats, harassing phone calls and reams of hate mail.  

“I never can imagine harassing people like this," said Jim Rhoades, a Republican elector from Michigan who runs a home inspection service. “I’ve lost a bunch of business.” 

In Pennsylvania, the situation has become so serious that the some 20 electors have reportedly been assigned plainclothes state police troopers for protection. . . .

Disturbingly, a supposed news site, Buzzfeed, has also helped get  information on electors so that they can be harassed.

Last week, social media supporters of Hillary Clinton passed around a spreadsheetlisting the names and personal information of Electoral College voters. Helped along by news sites like Buzzfeed, Clintonites made hundreds of calls to EC delegates, hoping to persuade them to switch their vote to Clinton when the EC meets this month. . . .

While major outlets such the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, and USA Today haven't found space for any of these threats, they did find space for other death threats.

Washington Post headline; "A professor called Trump’s election an ‘act of terrorism.’ Death threats forced her to flee."  The article in the Post also failed to really discuss the full problem with this professor's behavior.  For example, only vaguely is it mentioned that the professor tried to shame students for supporting Trump. "Prof who called Trump win an ‘act of terrorism’ allegedly asked Trump backers to stand during class"

While the media is focusing on the single Trump elector who says that he will not vote for Trump, what about all the faithless Clinton Electors?

UPDATE: Apparently as of 12/13/2016 only one Republican elector is planning on being unfaithful to Trump, so why isn't the story about Clinton facing the loss of even more electors?

ORIGINAL: Before the election two Clinton Electors refused to support Hillary Clinton.  All the focus is now on Trump elector, Christopher Suprun.  From Vox on November 6th:

Robert Satiacum, a former Bernie Sanders supporter, told the Seattle Times that he will refuse to support Clinton no matter what. A second elector from Washington state, Bret Chiafalo, is saying that he may or may not follow his state’s results.  

“No, no, no on Hillary. Absolutely not. No way,” said Satiacum in a telephone interview with the newspaper, which reached him as he was protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline. “I hope it comes down to a swing vote and it’s me. ... Good. She ain’t getting it. Maybe it’ll wake this country up.” 

Satiacum and Chiafalo are Democratic elector candidates, meaning they’ll be responsible for casting two Electoral College votes for Washington if Clinton wins the state. While they could face criminal charges for defying the state’s election results, Satiacum and Chiafalo can still, bizarrely, use their Electoral College votes to support whomever they personally choose. . . .

More recently, P. Bret Chiafalo,  has reiterated his opposition to Clinton.  From Politico:

Washington elector refuses to vote for Clinton in attempt to keep Trump out of White House

There are also four such faithless electors from Colorado, though these electors are only doing this to try to stop Trump, not because they are upset with Clinton.

Polly Baca, a former state senator from Colorado, . . . . Bob Nemanich, a high school math teacher from Colorado Springs, Jerad Sutton of Greeley, also a math teacher, and Micheal Baca, a 24-year-old grad student who is not related to Polly Baca. . . . . .

Broad range of company stocks soar after Trump election win

Remember the claims by Justin Wolfers and Eric Zitzewitz that a Trump win would crash the stock markets? Well, the opposite has occurred.

You get an idea of the types of industries that have been most harmed by President Obama and which ones will be helped the most by Trump see the stocks that have gone up the most.

Small stocks are logging big gains largely because tiny companies generate most of their sales and profits domestically, where Donald Trump's economic agenda is seen benefiting the most.

Trump’s call for lower taxes, fewer regulations on businesses and government-financed infrastructure projects are viewed as a boon for smaller companies. . . .

From the Wall Street Journal:

Shares of banks, industrials and health-care companies propelled the Dow Jones Industrial Average to 19000 on Tuesday. The bets on those sectors largely reflect investors’ expectations of looser regulation, and higher growth and interest rates under a Trump administration. . . . 

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (contributed 240.99 points to the Dow industrials since Nov. 4) and J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. (73.76 points) 

The two banks have been big factors in the blue-chip index’s rally this month, largely because of the improved outlook for bank earnings and the rebound in long-term bond yields, which can make lending activity more profitable.That has particularly helped J.P. Morgan, the largest bank in the nation by both assets and market value. Since the presidential election, bond yields have risen and the gap between long- and short-dated debt has widened. That should help banks’ income because it increases the difference between what lenders charge on loans and pay out on deposits. . . . 

UnitedHealth Group Inc. (99.64 points) 

The largest U.S. health insurer has struggled to eke out profitability from its Affordable Care Act plans. UnitedHealth Group has said it intends to withdraw from nearly all of the health-law marketplaces next year amid anticipated annual losses of about $850 million on ACA plans. Other insurers have also pulled back from their coverage areas under the law, leaving many counties with only one participating insurer and increased premiums. President-elect Donald Trump has pledged to “repeal and replace” the Affordable Care Act. Still, the law has also resulted in a Medicaid expansion, bringing new customers to the insurer. In its latest quarter, the company added 9% more Medicaid members.  . . .
