Hezbollah Terrorists Using UN Troops as Cover
Brit Hume's Special Report explains why Israel had fired on the UN position in Lebanon. According to a Canadian general who spoke with the Canadian member of the UN crew that was killed, Hezbollah was apparently "all over his position and the IDF were targeting them." "Terrorists groups often use the UN troops as shields knowing that they can't be punished." It appears as if the UN is not just sitting there, but actually helping out the terrorists, at least indirectly.

Also, there have been atleast 2 reports of Hezbollah firing upon the UN troops, as well. Israel evacuated and possibly saved the life of atleast one UN soldier, as noted here in the UN's own press release --> http://www.un.org/Depts/dpko/missions/unifil/pr08.pdf

"One unarmed UN military observer, a member of the Observer Group
Lebanon (OGL), was seriously wounded by small arms fire in the patrol base in the Marun Al Ras area yesterday afternoon. According to preliminary reports, the fire originated from the Hezbollah side during an exchange with the IDF. He was evacuated by the UN to the Israeli side, from where he was taken by an IDF ambulance helicopter to a hospital in Haifa. He was operated on, and his condition is now reported as stable."
Kofi Annan has yet to condemn Hezbollah for this act...

Little Green Footballs blog posted an interesting clip a few days ago. The clip (while dated from 2004) shows a UN ambulance assisting terrorists flee a gun battle (presumably with Israeli forces). It is likely from the recent targeting of a UN outpost by Israeli forces that this practice is continuing.
