Missouri concealed handgun permits length goes from 3 to 5 years
Ready or not, more than 100 sheriffs across the state will be taking over responsibility of issuing concealed carry weapons permits starting Aug. 28.There have been a lot of problems with the Missouri Department of Revenue over permits.
That’s because the Missouri Department of Revenue has been stripped of its role as the agency endorsing permits. . . .
"Missourians lost a lot of trust with our Missouri government with the department of motor vehicle when all the names were released. And I think with it going to the Sheriff's office it's going to be a lot more trustworthy," Capp said.
That may be the reason more people are now applying for permits, applications have skyrocketed at the Marion County sheriff's office.
"Approximately a year or so ago, we were averaging approximately 12 to 15 CCW's a month, now we're averaging close to 50 or 60 a month," Marion County Sheriff Jimmy Shinn said. . . .
