Average Federal Civilian Wage has Grown Relative to the Average Private Industry Wage over the Last Decade


In 2000, the average Federal civilian wage was 33 percent more than the average private industry wage. By 2008, that gap was 59 percent.

what sort of average? Are we looking at the median or the mean here? The comments (three links deep) imply as much. Which may simply mean that the bottom pay rate is decent and there is a proportionally longer tail. Aren't wages, etc, supposed to use Median for just this reason?

I seriously doubt these numbers are correct. Bush was President for most of these years and the Republican Party controlled Congress for 6 of these years. The anti-big government party would never let something like this happen on their watch.
