I have a new op-ed up at
Fox News:
There is a lot of hysteria about the economy. Politicians worried about a voter backlash want to show voters that they are willing to do something.
Yet, the White House and Congressional proposal last week to send $100 billion in checks to Americans will not stimulate the economy, only waste taxpayers’ money. Instead of growing the economy as claimed, the expanded unemployment benefits being pushed by Senate Democrats will only shrink it. . . .

Great article and I couldn't agree with you more! It baffles me why people think it's ok to take the money that I have earned with my own hard work and just give it to someone else because they deem them more "needy". Even those that didn't pay taxes are going to get money back. Huh? Since when does that ever make sense? Members of Congress might need to go read Atlas Shrugged and get an idea of where that kind of thinking can lead.
The biggest boost for the economy (any economy) would be an immediate 50% cut in the cost of Govt
There is only one word for the so-called "Stimulus Package": pathetic. I don't see the U.S. avoiding a recession by everyone going shopping at the local mall.
The important economic issue today in the U.S. is the best approach for dealing with popping of the real estate speculative bubble. The sub-prime mortgage meltdown is only the first phase. The real trouble is how the average U.S. homeowner is going to deal with a 30+% drop in house prices over the next few years.
John,
Well said, And if there really is a recession going on right now, what has caused it. Using simple Dem logic, the only real change in Government in the last year or so was??? You guessed it, a Dem controlled House and Senate. Bet the Main stream media will never try to make that correlation.
The reason is they know in their hearts that tax cuts work and all they want to do is investigate baseball. (Where in the Constitution does it task congress with investigating such thing?)Or make ridiculous and non-binding resolutions. Is this what all those Dem voters wanted?
Keep up the good work,
Dan
