New study on Concealed Carry

I hope that people will consider downloading a copy of our new study on concealed handguns available here.  The paper shows the huge changes that have been occurring in the number of concealed handgun permits and who have been getting those permits.  It also shows how changes in the crime rate have been related to changes in crime rates across states, and I think that the paper will serve as an important resource.  Finally, if we can get another thousand downloads on the paper, I think that it will force the academics who pay attention to the rankings on the Social Science Research Network to have to deal with the points that we have raised in the paper.

The top 25 countries with active armies do not reach 12.8 million.
Consider my mind blow.

Do your studies account for those who hold permits from multiple states? Is that data available?

More good guys with guns and crime goes down. The left will never buy it... guns only have two enemies; rust and politicians.

JM, is there evidence at all that,
1) a statistically significant number of people do have multiple permits?
2)Or that of those who do there is a higher proportion than the past?

unless you have work that shows both at significant levels have occurred concurrently, multiple state permits have no affect on the study.

As far as doubling flaws, those are endemic in the anti gun rights activists studies. In my state the gun injury number being reported to the CDC included all second and third visits and fourth visits. I turned out firearms injuries had declined significantly but were reported to have risen.
