Father of two small children fatally shoots man who broke open a back door and entered the house
William Anthony Wilson, 27, allegedly broke into a house at 921 N. Park Ave. in Ashdown and was shot by a resident living in the house at about 11 p.m. last Wednesday.
The identity of the family has not been released.
Wilson, who according to authorities broke open a back door and entered the house, died about an hour later in Little River Memorial Hospital and was pronounced dead by Dr. Lonnie Parker at 12:15 a.m. on Thursday.
The Little River County Sheriff’s Department Dispatch Center received the call at 10:59 p.m. Wednesday regarding a burglary in progress and shots had been heard.
The incident occurred while the family which included an adult male, adult female and two preschool children was asleep inside the house.
According to the report, the suspect forced the back door open, and appeared to have entered several rooms.
The resident woke up and confronted Wilson and shot him with a handgun. . . .
