Obama administration doesn't think that it is appropriate to have a parade in NYC to honor the troops that served in Iraq

From the AP:

Bloomberg says Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Gen. Martin Dempsey and other Army officials "made it clear" to the city "they do not think a parade is appropriate now." . . .

Markie Marxist sez: "We can't have a miliary parade in NYC! What if they carry guns?! They'd be marching down the street with batzookas and howhitzhers! It would be a field day for the NRA! Mayor Bloomberg would be embarrassed! You know how anti-gun he is! We can't allow that! The sensibilities of his honor, the mayor, far outweigh those of ordinary soldiers and Americans! He‘s a good commie like that."

Has anyone even confirmed that Gen. Dempsey actually said anything to this effect?
