Only six Senate Democrats voted to end the $6 Billion subsidy for Ethanol
Thirty-four Senate Republicans voted Tuesday to advance a proposal eliminating a $6 billion ethanol tax break, which one GOP leader said struck a blow against the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.
But the measure fell 20 votes short, 40-59, as most Democrats voted against proceeding.
The vote came on an amendment sponsored by Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) to eliminate a 45-cent tax break given to refiners for every gallon of ethanol they blend with gasoline. . . .

There is a disconnect about ethano; for auyostrucks that may become more widely noted in future. The same government[s] forcing higher percentage of lower-MPG ethanol are also forcing vehicles to increase MPG ratings.
Eventually, this will end up like incandescent light bulbs. No, they are not banned, they merely must achieve a level of "efficiency" that is physically impossible.
Markie Marxist sez: "We have to have subsidies! They function as another reason to raise taxes, so they help move America towards the 100% taxation that is communism. It doesn't matter if the money goes to the American Toad Ranchers Association, as long as we can get our hands on it first, that's what counts. It's just common communist sense to have all the subsidies we can get our hands on."
