Great effort John.

If only us 'civilised' Brits could have a debate on this subject, without constant screaming and interruptions.

The callers seemed to focus most on magazine size. That is the thrust of the anti-gun rights crowd in Congress right now, with McCarthy in the House and Lautenberg in the Senate introducing legislation to resurrect the 10-round magazine limit. Coincidental callers?

Disarming private citizens is a terrible idea, and yet that is ultimately the view that has long been pushed by the disingenuous Helmke, to a greater or a lesser extent, depending on what the market will bear at the time. I see Helmke standing beside a slippery slope with a bucket of grease, a large grease brush, and a grin from one ear to the other.

I would not feel comfortable, and I cannot imagine that anyone would feel comfortable, with an AR-15 (the most popular rifle in the US) for home defense that has only a tiny, little, ten-round magazine in it.

Who is Paul Helmke to tell me that my life is only worth ten rounds?

It’s my life on the line, not his, and thus the size of the magazine I have for my defense is properly my choice, not his. Helmke is wrong to take my freedom to choose away from me.

Helmke is not interested in increasing penalties for criminals who misuse larger magazines, which would only impact criminals, as is appropriate. Instead, he wants to impose a magazine ban that would impact all lawful gun owners, with the erroneous presumption that they all might as well be criminals, so that he can smugly pretend that he‘s prevented crimes, when he has done no such thing. We’ve already tried this nonsense, and it didn’t work. Enough is enough!

Paul Helmke claims to be a "mid-west Republican" now?

My dying ass!

I don't know about you, Chas, but I would be delighted to have 10 rounds of .223 for home defense. It beats 4 shells of #4 buckshot, for sure.

That said, I'd be even more delighted to have an extended P-Mag in the same AR, if my state allowed it...
