"Burgled [UK] MP wants home stun guns"

It is obviously too politically incorrect to note that there are problems with stun guns (e.g., the criminal wearing rubber soled shoes or heavy coats) and that because of those problems guns have some advantages.

An MP whose house was burgled while his family and visitors slept has called for homeowners to be allowed to arm themselves with Taser stun guns. . . . .

Mr Davies added: "Shouldn't I, at the very least, be able to stand at the top of my stairs with a Taser - which isn't going to kill somebody - and use that as a means of self defence?" . . .

Although voicing support for Mr Davies, Victim Support Wales advised against home owners being armed with the electronic stun guns.

John Trew, Victim Support's national officer for Wales, said; "I don't think there is a problem with people using reasonable force to defend themselves."

But he said if there were burgling your house, people should "ring the police, don't try to take them on." . . .

Mr. Lott, with all respect, stun guns and Tasers do not rely on grounding with the earth. The shock passes between the contacts of the device. Insulative shoes would have no effect.

This is why Taser users are told to aim low. If the contacts were to imbed in the chest on either side of the heart, the shock would pass through the heart, and could be deadly.

Heavy coats, on the other hand, would be useful in reducing the efficacy of a shock device.

It is easy to wear something inconspicuous that protects the wearer from a stun gun. As John has shown, criminals exhibit risk aversion. Shouldn't we expect that stun guns in the hands of civilians will prove, for the most part, useless?

You have found the world's best source for security products stun guns, safety products, spy products and electronic gadgets.

In today's world your very survival may depend on how you deal with a given threat. If you fail to defend yourself, you will become a victim. You can use lethal force and face the inevitable legal battle, was deadly force justified?

Or you can prepare yourself with scalable self defense products enabling you to use appropriate levels of force for the situation. Different self defense products are better for certain types of threats. Use a pepper spray, expandable baton or stun gun taser where the threat level has not escalated to justifiable use of deadly force.

To protect yourself and your family use just enough force to end the threat. Let Law Enforcement do what they do best.
