Starbucks policy changes nothing, but satisfies the left
Starbucks says guns are no longer welcome in its cafes, though it is stopping short of an outright ban on firearms. . . .
Schultz hopes people will honor the request not to bring in guns but says the company will nevertheless serve those who do. . . .If Starbucks really wanted people to "honor" this request, they would post "no carry" signs.

I didn't know that Starbucks served waffles...
The CEO (Howard Schultz) is trying to thread the needle. Do *something* to appease the statists that he hangs with, while still keeping his second amendment supporters, who outnumber the anti-second amendment types five to one.
I do not think he will gain any leftist customers, and I think he has alienated most of his customers who are second amendment supporters.
A clear net loss, but since when did leftist CEOs put profits above agenda?
It sounds to me that while they don't particularly mind the guns, Starbucks does not want to be the target of pro-gun demonstrations.
