New Ad by "Mayors Against Illegal Guns"

“The grief was staggering, and now more than 100 days after the massacre at Newtown, the US Senate starts to act.”This isn't obnoxious like a radio ad that I recently heard from Bloomberg's group and unfortunately it is right that this move is bipartisan, but these guys aren't working "to protect the Second Amendment." The background check bill is an attempt to make it more costly for law-abiding people to obtain guns for protection, establish a national gun registry, and apparently include voluntary mental help that people may have gotten as a permanent prohibition on getting a gun. As to the accuracy of the poll see my discussion here.
“Some Democrats and Republicans are coming together to support comprehensive background checks on gun sales that will protect the Second Amendment and help keep guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals.”
“Ninety percent of America supports comprehensive background checks. Call your senators and urge them to support the bipartisan effort for comprehensive background checks. Demand action now.”

Obama and Co. will apparently do ANYTHING that they can put accross as "tightening gun control". I'm not at all sure that this "last bill standing" business wasn't the original plan. The UBC bill seems to me to be eminately usable as a dissarming mechanism - particularly with Obama's own people running the bureaucracy. If we sit still for it - we're disarmed, if we rebel, we're "terrorists" you know - drone targets! I don't know how much worse it could get than that. BUT, a large portion of the U.S. population thinks we're "behind" the rest of the first world countries in the world because we don't have restrictive gun laws. the U.K. and Australia "caught up" now it's OUR TURN!
I have two words for all those folks - and the first letters are F and Y!

Dr. Lott, As you've pointed out often, there are costs and benefits accompanying almost any law. The Democrats act as if our only cost is inconvenience or possibly a little financial loss. Period. But, on their side, the supposed anguished death of innocents which could have been avoided if the knuckle dragging Republicans had not prevented the "common sense gun safety legislation" in the first place. Oh contraire - the number of innocents left helpless and "sitting ducks" BECAUSE of gun control FAR exceeds things like school shootings (so rare it's called a "black swan" event). Why don't WE counter Obama's tearful parents with some sad stories from our much more numerous side? Just a thought.

They say that *universal background checks* will keep guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals and mental people, since when?
It sounds like some of these so called *(Liberal) Mayors Against Illegal (Really?, they seem to target legal gun ownership) Guns* need to submit to these *Tough (tough for law abiding citizens to exercise their rights and buy a gun) background checks because they are hardly the poster boys for upstanding and law abiding citizens!
In fact, these laws will far more effectively serve to keep guns out of the hands of law abiding family members, friend and neighbors but then most of the more intelligent people can figure out that is exactly what these laws are designed to do under the guise of keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and protecting our children.
As for second amendment rights, since when did Bloomberg or any of his cronies respect the second amendment or any other freedoms for that matter?
When you need to run an ad campaign to tell people 90% of people support something and that this is just common sense you can pretty much figure out that neither is true or 1) you wouldn't need an ad to tell you this as you would already support it or 2) you would already know this was common sense, the fact that they feel the need to ram this down your throat with a big spoonful of emotion is enough to make alarm bells rig loudly and elicits the though, could this perhaps be just propaganda from people with much more than an agenda than child safety?
The fact that they call their gun control bill the “Safe Communities, Safe Schools Act of 2013” is so that they can claim that anyone who opposes or should seek to repeal it doesn't care about children or safety in our schools or communities.
Article VI, Clause 2;
This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.
Hmmmmmm, combine the above with the 14th Amendment, Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
Our rights are not only being abridged, but all so called 'gun control' laws are illegal, and unenforcable. With this in mind, why doesn't any branch of our government attempt to point this out, and correct it?
The Second Amendment is a privilege, and an immunity from government control of firearms on any level, be it State or Federal.
So why is it that there are those who will accede to demands that they must apply for a right? Why not simply argue and enforce the truth that I have shown above?
