"Teachers in Florida suburb getting free weapons training lessons"
A group of teachers in a Florida suburb are receiving free weapons training classes for free, according to a report by FOX13 News.
The event held in Safety Harbor and conducted by security company International Executive Protection is meant to teach teachers, and students, the basics of self-defense and the details of Florida's Concealed Carry Weapons Permit.
"I've been kind of skirting around the issue of getting a gun again and this opportunity came open," Oak Grove (Clearwater) Middle School teacher Terri Cunningham told FOX13 News. "I decided it's free; don't turn down anything that's free."
The class, which normally costs $75, was offered with a discount because of the apparent growing interest in concealed carry permits among teachers in the wake of the Newtown shooting. . . .

I would suggest that most of the resentment from teachers of carrying a gun comes from the idea of taking on the additional responsibility, but with no additional compensation - they simply don’t want to be taken advantage of. However, if a teacher could pick up an additional $100 per week by carrying a gun, we'd see how many still oppose the idea of doing so, and how many sign up for the waiting list to be able to do so.
I'm still baffled at why it's called 'Common Sense'. As you so pointed out Dr. Lott, liberal teachers will probably not engage in the training.
Having replicated myself, I approve of teachers being able to protect children against mentally disturbed individuals who attack the weakest targets possible in their bid for fame. To leave our children unprotected and blatantly advertise the situation for all to know, is simply stupid.
There are those who place their kids in private schools with a very high level of protection for their kids, but when it comes to protecting the children of those of lesser means, the aforementioned folks wish to deny us that protection.
WHY???
