Paul Krugman on owning guns for self-defense
“What strikes me is we've actually gotten a glimpse into the mindset, though, of the pro-gun people and we've seen certainly Wayne LaPierre and some of these others. It's bizarre,” he said. “They have this vision that we're living in a ‘Mad Max’ movie and that nothing can be done about it, that America cannot manage unless everybody's prepared to shoot intruders, that the idea that we have police forces that provide public safety is somehow totally impractical, despite the fact that, you know, that is, in fact, the way we live.”
“So, I think that the terms of the debate have shifted,” he added. “Now the craziness of the extreme pro-gun lobby has been revealed, and that has got to move the debate and got to move the legislation at least to some degree.” . . .

Dr. Lott,
Paul Krugman (THIS Paul Krugman!) received the Nobel Prize? For WHAT? I didn't know they gave one for being a knee jerk liberal! Wait - Is he an expert on the Theater of the Absurd?
I don't recall the allusion by LaPierre (or Keene) to "Mad Max movies". I wonder to what - specifically - Krugman was referring. Was it, perhaps, to the "right wing" assertion that the "police often arrive AFTER the crime is over and the potential victim has become a real one"? Those "right wing extremests" only say that because it's true. But, as "newspeak" would have it - just what IS "truth" anyway? My "truth" ? , your "truth" ? , God's "truth" ? , capital "T" "Truth" ? , little 't" "truth" ? What were we talking about anyway?
Krugman is so smart, so intelligent, that he knows precisely how to state the political correctness that is expected. That he does so is what ingratiates him with the NYT.
Unfortunately, the amorality of what he does is a disgusting and grotesque sham. Krugman is a monster. A predictably successful monster, in these politically correct times.
Meanwhile, good old Dr. John Lott plods along, clinging to an antiquated notion that the truth matters, and that it matters more than self-serving and ephemeral, political correctness. No parties at the NYT or Gracie Mansion for Dr. Lott, but Krugman undoubtedly has a standing invitation.
These days, academia has moved far beyond the truth that it once revered, and it now rewards those whose clever lies serve to advance the Marxist agenda. That is the sad state of contemporary affairs, though there is the hope that with a little light, things may change.
Krugman is behind the curve:
