Democrats try to silence opposition by intimidation
House Democrats are probing the nation's largest insurance companies for lavish spending, demanding reams of compensation data and schedules of retreats and conferences.
Letters sent to 52 insurance companies by Democratic leaders demand extensive documents for an examination of "extensive compensation and other business practices in the health insurance industry." The letters set a deadline of September 14 for the documents.
Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and Rep. Bart Stupak (D.-Mich), chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, signed the three-page letter dated Monday.
An industry source replied when asked for comment: "This is nothing more than a taxpayer-funded fishing expedition designed to silence health plans." . . . .

Hardly suprising that House Dems are stooping to this level in order to achieve their goals.
After all, they (the Dems) are desperate.
Odds are, if the Dems find even the slightest hint of something wrong, they will simply blow it all out of proportion in order to draw attention away from their failure to listen to We the People.
I find all of this to be highly disturbing to say the very least. They are supposed to do things at our bidding, not force their ideology upon us. We go to meetings, voice our opinions, and they still don't get it?
Attack the voters Mr. Waxman, and you may just find yourself out of a job...
Under what authority do these out of touch elitist think they have to demand anything from anyone? If there is probable cause for a criminal investigation, then a grand jury should be convened. The activities of these companies is only suspect to these stuffed shirts who think class warfare will get them their government take over of America. We the People must replace these....people ( I can't in good conscience call them representatives)
