Before the election the media kept on repeating what a great backer of gun rights that Obama was. Now they talk about the regulations that he supports.
"Gun rights advocates interpret that as meaning he'll at least enact curbs on ownership of assault weapons and concealed weapons."

Even as a Brit this makes my blood boil. I wish that governments would stay out of peoples lives.
Concealed carry is logical, in place (in the US) and effective. When will politicians become interested in and respect that which works.
Instead they think they know best. The media should be ashamed of how they eased Obama's path to the Whitehouse.
The bias in the UK coverage I have seen has been breathtaking. I use to be so proud of the BBC, not anymore.
Ah, yes. This is the AP story in which the very sane and reasonable Paul Broun compares Obama to Hitler, calls him a Marxist and a socialist and likens life in America under an Obama presidency to Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, apparently not understanding the differences between any of them.
I wonder why you didn't link directly to it, instead of just excerpting a very small section? Surely you would want readers to understand the context of Broun's serious and sober commentary.
It couldn't possibly be because any reasonable person would think that Broun's a wack-job, could it? It wouldn't be because you want to rely on a distorted view of the facts or on something taken wildly out of context would it?
I wonder how he proposes to do this in light of Heller? Federal legislation outlawing concealed handguns? Such legislation would trample on the law of the majority of States....I'm sure that wouldn't result in a constitutional shitstorm ;)
A return of the AWB is of greater concern to me, but again, in light of Heller, banning entire classifications of firearms seems to be a politically risky pursuit.

Get your Concealed Carry Permit NOW, while you still can. Also, you might consider stocking up on your ammunition before it gets taxed out of affordability, or BANNED altogether.
Again and again, Lott proves how dishonest he is. Check out the context... The story is really about the very sober and sane comments of Paul Broun who doesn't know the difference between Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, Marx, socialism, or communism apparently.
A debate about gun rights is fine, but why can't Lott make an honest argument? Instead he relies on lies and distortions.

There was a feature on a UK news show last night about the boom in gun sales since the election. I watched with mixed feelings......annoyed with Obama and jealous of the freedom to purchase an object long since denied to us.
They will take your rights little by little. Oppose everything, even the small things that dont effect you yet!
Out here in the real America a pregnant silence has fallen over gun owners. The opinions and complants of the recent past have fallen silent. Gun owners, especally owners of military style firearms have withdrawn into themselves to consider what they will tolerate and what they will not. Many are saying that they will never surrender their arms peacefully. I wonder if Obama and the Washington gun grabbers have any idea of what will happen if they try to confiscate firearms. These gun owners are not criminals. They are not terrorists. They do no seek the overthrow of our government. They are patriots. Most have sworn an oath to uphold, protect, and defend our constitution. Many are veterins who have fought and bled for our country. They see the confiscation of military style firearms as a clear and present danger to the future freedom of every American. There is a very great storm gathering on the horizon and I fear for the future.
