How US Rep Carolyn McCarthy handles argumentative constituents
The flap arose on March 19, when Razzano visited McCarthy's Garden City office to discuss an article about an illegal immigrant who was deported but was later nabbed in Freeport for the attempted murder of a cop.
"The office staff felt that Razzano's behavior was disruptive and threatening," said Lt. Kevin Smith, a police spokesman.
As a consequence of his visit to her office, the constituent had this happen:
An outspoken Long Island gun owner's home was raided by Nassau County detectives, who seized two dozen weapons he lawfully owns just one day after Rep. Carolyn McCarthy's office made a 911 call about him. . . .

I don't know the NY laws, but I assume one must have their guns registered. Sure makes it easy for those who wish to violate the US Constitution to know exactly where to go and what to look for.
I don't know all the facts, but was the man even charged with any crime? Unless I'm mistaken, the police aren't allowed to confinscate your gun collection just because a congresswoman doesn't like you.
"seized two dozen weapons he LAWFULLY owns"
The emphasis is mine but I thought that in order to seize these firearms the police would need either evidence or a report of a crime and not a feeling, "The office staff felt that Razzano's behavior was disruptive and threatening". If it is enough for someone to "FEEL" threatened for them to be stripped of a constitutionally recognized right then the bill of rights is a seriously compromised document.
With regard to Mr. Razzanos' lawsuit surely the police now have to charge him, and the office staff formalize their complaint to the police or the police have to return Mr. Razzanos' firearms and apologize hoping this will cause him to abandon his legal action.
