THERE has been a huge increase in being people shot, stabbed and even kicked to death since Labour came to power.
Shocking statistics released last night show a 14 per cent increase in murder and manslaughter in England and Wales between 1998 and 2007.
There was also a 28 per cent increase in deaths from bladed weapons. Those killed by shootings increased by the same figure. . . .

I don't know how more obvious that statistics have to be. Why are politicians up here in Canada land still pushing for a handgun ban!?
It would be interesting to see those figures expressed a homicide per 100,000 per year
It would also be interesting to see an ethnic breakdown of the offenders and victems and their proportions in the wider population.
Here in ireland, dispite (or perhaps because of) extremly tight gun control before (the brits didn't want armed catholics)and since independance, the homicide rate in many regions for a largely white population is double the US national figures for non "blacks".
I have heard that the UK's "black" population has a simillar homicide rate to the US black population, but not found figures to verify.
Certainly in the mid '90s the "Black" populations both sides of the water had simillar incarceration rates, and the higher US "Black" population accounted for the higher US incarceration rate
